Where We Perform
The Kuranda Ampitheatre
The Loony Poets stage their performances in the unique Under-Stage Bar or in the Big Shed, both areas are part of the Kuranda Amphitheatre, a renowned natural outdoor venue operated by volunteers from the local community.
The Kuranda Amphitheatre was begun in 1979 with the granting of permission for lease of 6 acres of land by the community to create a sound-shell and recreational area. In 1981 the first Spring Festival took place at the Amphitheatre beginning a long tradition of hosting community festivals and events.
Today the Kuranda Amphitheatre hosts top Australian acts such as John Butler, Xavier Rudd, Missy Higgins and festival such as the Roots Festival. In November 2011 the Kuranda Amphitheatre will celebrate 30 years of being in operation, an incredible feat for a small community of volunteers to achieve.
With an army of friendly volunteers to assist you to enjoy yourself, surrounded by the natural beauty of the rainforest, with great music and a starlight sky as backdrop, a night out at the Kuranda Amphitheatre is a night to remember.
